Dr. KVN Rao,holds B.Tech(Hons) in Electrical Engineering and M.Tech (Electrical Machine Design) from IIT – Kharagpur and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London. He was SM IEEE, Member ASHRAE and FIE(India) for many years
Dr. Rao, taught for 19 years and established a Research Centre for Heavy Electrical Machines with UNDP assistancs in 1975 at MANIT,Bhopal. He worked closely with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on several consultancy projects related to turbo and hydro-generators and traction systems.
He has 30 years of varied experience, in reputed National and Multinational Companies. in ‘Electrical’, ‘Automotive’ and ‘Consumer Durable’ Industry sectors covering ‘New Product Development’, ‘Product and Process Engineering’, Production, Quality assurance, Value Engineering and ‘Management Systems – QMS, EMS, OHSAS.
For the last 16 years, Dr. Rao is consulting, advising and mentoring Manufacturing Industries in the areas of Management Systems (QMS,EMS, OHSAS Safety, second party Audits, Supplier Audits), Process and Productivity improvements, 5S, TPM, ‘Statutory and Regulatory Compliance Management’(for CPSA,CPSIA,REACH, EU Directives etc.) and Carbon Foot print.
Dr. Rao was till 2012, was empanelled with NABCB as an Assessor for accreditation of Conformity Assessment bodies to ISO 17020, ISO 17021 and ISO 17065 and has many assessments to his credit.
He is actively involved in Climate change issues and was a member of the National task force for phasing out Ozone depleting substances. He was the Chairman of the Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Industry Group for the purpose He is presently a member of the the Roster of Experts for UNFCCC CDM and UNFCCC JI and has participated in DOE assessments in Several countries.
